Teleradiology

Teleradiology is a telemedicine service that provides radiological services remotely using information and communication technologies. It includes radiological images, computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) taken by trained medical professionals in a telemedicine access centre and reviewed by specialist physicians in a telemedicine specialist centre at a remote location, from where they make a diagnosis and send opinions and recommendations for therapy.

This service shortens the time for reading radiological images, and specialists or subspecialists in specialist centres make timely decisions about the need to admit patients from remote locations to their institutions. This working method reduces the cost of patient transportation, increases the availability of the service, which is especially evident during control and repeat (follow up) examinations, and leads to improved treatment outcomes.
