Emergency Medical Service
The work of the county institutes of emergency medicine is carried out by T1 and T2 teams, as well as standby and emergency medical transport teams, and their number and schedule are determined by the Emergency Medicine and Patient Transport Service (OG 134/23). The T1 team consists of a medical doctor/specialist, a nurse and a driver, while the T2 team includes two nurses for whom systematic and intensive specialist training has been implemented since 2023, expanding their competencies and abilities. Standby teams are organised in more remote areas with a small population and limited availability of other forms of health care so that emergency medical care is available to them 24 hours a day, whereas emergency medical transport teams are established for the needs of inter-hospital transport of critically ill patients. Members of all teams renew their knowledge and skills following Training programmes in pre-hospital emergency medicine.
The vehicles of the prehospital emergency medical service teams are equipped in accordance with the Standard for vehicles and the exterior appearance of vehicles for performing pre-hospital emergency medical services.
